The press conference for the founding of the Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg (ARIC) e.V. took place on September 30, 2019 in the symbolic Phoenix Hall of Hamburg City Hall. In his speech to representatives of the press and interested experts, Senator Michael Westhagemann gave the starting signal for the establishment of the organization and the further development of ARIC. Senator Westhagemann explained: “The future topic of AI is paving the way for the innovative capacity and competitiveness of our companies. Strengthening and promoting this potential is therefore of central importance for Hamburg. The newly founded ARIC competence center is a central point of contact for bundling the various initiatives and activities in the field of AI across industries and topics and promoting them even more strongly.”
The competence center will bundle expertise in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) across disciplines and industries and advance the AI ecosystem here in Hamburg. Companies of different sizes and industries as well as scientific players from universities and research institutions have initiated the ARIC as a link between practical application and application-oriented research in the field of artificial intelligence. With the support of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the founding members will drive forward the establishment and development of the center in the coming months and integrate interested stakeholders from business and science.
