Even an AI can make mistakes. The circumstances under which the provider is liable have been controversial until now. The EU Commission has now presented a draft AI liability directive that is intended to provide clarity. Fieldfisher explains the new regulations and the consequences for companies.
The speakers

Stephan Zimprich is a lawyer in the Technology & Data team at Fieldfisher’s Hamburg office. He specializes in litigating cases with a technology background and advises clients from the digital sector in the areas of data protection, competition law, media law and IT law. His clients include global cloud solution providers, social networks and review platforms, leading European ad tech providers as well as specialized software providers in highly regulated sectors. Stephan Zimprich is a successful litigator and regularly represents his clients in court, including before the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights.

Martin Lose is a senior associate in the Technology & Data team at Fieldfisher’s Hamburg office and focuses on advising on technology-oriented topics such as broadcasting and media regulation, copyright law, IT law and data protection law. Prior to joining Fieldfisher, he worked for several years as a research assistant at the Hans Bredow Institute for Media Research in Hamburg and at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society in Berlin, in particular on issues of internet and media regulation.
