The use and development of artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly – but how can authorities and public companies benefit from it? What role can – and should – artificial intelligence play in the public sector?
Governance technology – GovTech for short – primarily describes technologies and companies that contribute to the digitalization of services and processes in the public sector. The dynamic development of key technologies and the wide range of adaptation options bring with them enormous potential on the one hand, but also technical and regulatory requirements on the other. And in view of the increasingly complex requirements and the impending major wave of retirements in the public sector by 2035, it is clear that artificial intelligence will also play a prominent role in GovTech applications.
Hamburg has positioned itself as an innovation hub for GovTech applications since 2018 and is driving interdisciplinary developments in this area.
