ARIC was one of the founding members of the AI4Germany initiative last year. Now the Digital Hub Karlsruhe Artificial Intelligence and the AI Progress Center Learning Systems Baden-Würtemberg have joined the AI4Germany initiative.
As part of AI4Germany, the leading initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) are joining forces to actively support the local economy and society in Germany in the application of artificial intelligence – and thus accompany Germany into the AI age.
AI4Germany sees itself as a complementary initiative to the Learning Systems Platform and AI4EU. AI4EU is the EU’s central AI information infrastructure. AI4Germany sees itself as an implementation platform and intends to coordinate closely with AI4EU in the development and dissemination of content.
AI4Germany is an umbrella initiative that promotes active exchange and cooperation between the participating partners in the federal states. Each partner should have the support of the respective state government in their federal state in order to actively promote the topic of AI.
Together, the members accelerate the introduction and application of artificial intelligence in Germany and thus strengthen Germany’s role as an important high-tech location.
To achieve this goal, members work together on a wide range of content and activities, all focused on the understanding, development and implementation of AI applications – for example:
- Networking and bundling Germany-wide AI infrastructures
- Development of joint, trend-setting analyses, objectives and strategies as well as corresponding publications
- Expansion of a productive network of experts
- Expansion of a map with AI application examples
- Provision of supra-regional best practices
- Collaboration on the AI start-up map for Germany
- Offer workshops, round tables and other AI event formats
- (Further) development of training concepts for scientific and in-company training and further education.
In order to reach as many people and companies as possible, we use the local presence and reach of the participating partners.
Together, the partners will be able to tackle the issue faster and more efficiently. This is particularly important as Germany (and Europe) are in a global race for technological leadership, which can also determine our future prosperity.
The partners in other German states that founded the initiative include appliedAI from Garching near Munich, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS and the Smart Systems Hub in Dresden as well as KI.NRW/Fraunhofer IAIS in Sankt Augustin near Bonn. The Digital Hub Karlsruhe Artificial Intelligence and the AI Progress Center Learning Systems Baden-Württemberg have now also joined the AI4Germany initiative.
The AI platform appliedAI as part of UnternehmerTUM is responsible for coordination.
“Pooling the strengths of all partners will help Germany to avoid falling further behind the superpowers USA and China when it comes to AI,” says Andreas Liebl, Managing Director of appliedAI, explaining the aim of the initiative.
