The second event in cooperation with www.12min.me will take place on 08.07.2020. In the 12min.ai format, each speaker has exactly 12 minutes to get to the heart of their message. Immediately following each presentation, the audience will have 12 minutes to ask questions and engage in lively discussion. Three exciting and concise 12-minute presentations on the topic of AI will provide a variety of impulses for the subsequent discussion rounds.
The three speakers managed to bring light into the darkness of the buzzword AI with facts and clarity and to show which thoughts pioneers and implementers are actually thinking about the topic. In 12 minutes each, the two speakers will report on, explain and educate about the complex topic of AI.
As usual, the Meetup will take place online on July 8, 2020. The focus will be on the very exciting and important topic of “Ethics in AI”.
Guest Speaker:
1st speaker: Lisa Stamm, Product Manager @data42
Topic: Ethical challenges of AI and how to act on them
Artificial intelligence itself comes without any moral compass, but the data is aggregated and selected, and the methods are designed by biased people in this biased world. Let’s look into three practical examples of ethically problematic use of AI and find out, what are ethical challenges in general while using AI. And how can we tackle these challenges with new approaches?
2nd speaker: Prof. Dr. Stefan Waitzinger, HTWG Konstanz
Topic: “Confirmation Bias”: How our expectations influence trust in technology.
3rd speaker: Manouchehr Shamsrizi (Co-Founder of gamelab.berlin)
Topic: “What do we owe our children? Fragments of moral-philosophical problems of our future coexistence with forms of artificial intelligence”
The justice theorist Manouchehr Shamsrizi (co-founder of gamelab.berlin at the Helmholtz Center for Cultural Technology at Humboldt University; former Global Justice Fellow at Yale University and Ariane de Rothschild Fellow at the University of Cambridge) uses adaptations of various political theories and moral philosophical models – including the extension model (McReynolds), the veil of ignorance (Rawls), and the simulation hypothesis (Bostrom) – to ask whether we are currently asking ourselves the right questions about the relationship between humans and AI.
