On November 12, the first event took place in our own premises in Dockland in cooperation with www.12min.me. 120 participants enjoyed the new 12min.ai format, in which each speaker has exactly 12 minutes to get to the heart of their message. Immediately following each presentation, the audience will have 12 minutes to ask questions and engage in lively discussion. In three exciting and concise 12-minute presentations on the topic of AI, a variety of impulses were given for the subsequent discussion rounds.
The three speakers managed to bring light into the darkness of the buzzword AI with facts and clarity and to show which thoughts pioneers and implementers are actually thinking about the topic. In 12 minutes each, the three speakers succeeded in reporting on, explaining and educating about the complex topic of AI.
The first speaker was Prof. Dr. Nick Gehrke (tax consultant, data scientist and entrepreneur) with the title “The AI Check”. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Gehrke presented what a good use case for artificial intelligence is and gave examples from the field of finance and accounting. He also showed how to evaluate your own AI use case.
Dr. Achim Tappe (Senior Manager Data Science & Artificial Intelligence at Aurubis AG) followed on from this exciting presentation with the title “Digital transformation in Germany – my reverse culture shock”.
Dr. Tappe gave suggestions on how we in Germany need to think and act differently in order to master the digital transformation and, for example, keep up with the USA.
Last but not least, the third speaker was Mr. Jan Ruhnke (MSc. Computer Science, Manager for Digital Transformation, Cyber Physical Systems and Artificial Intelligence in the Digispace at Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC)) gave a presentation entitled “An unusual cooperation and why AI should be the last resort”. In it, Mr. Ruhnke vividly described the culture shock when German chemical giants and auditors meet “nerds” as part of a research project on production optimization and the unequal partners have to agree together to tackle unsolved problems. Can there be a happy ending?
With these diverse previous impulses and thoughts on the topic of AI, a lively and heterogeneous exchange took place among the participants afterwards.
The event 12min.ai – Leaping towards Singularity will now take place regularly in cooperation with 12min.me.
