Lecturers: Mohammad Ali Zamani, Dr. Sven Magg
Our founding member HITeC e.V. offers a very affordable 3-day workshop:
The workshop will take place on the following three consecutive Thursdays:
- Part: 09.04.2020, 16-19 o’clock
- Part: 16.04.2020, 4-7 p.m.
- Part: 23.04.2020, 16-19 o’clock
The participation fee of 140,00 Euro incl. 7 % VAT entitles you to participate in all courses.
The workshop will take place online as a webinar! Link will be sent out. Interaction and discussion will be made possible.
A laptop/computer is required. No specific AI software installation is required. You need a Google account and access to https://colab.research.google.com/notebooks/welcome.ipynb.
Workshop description:
A challenge when using artificial intelligence methods, especially neural networks, is the search for optimal hyperparameters (e.g. number of filters, learning rate). The main goal of the workshop is to prepare participants to start their own deep learning projects and optimize their models using one of the latest optimization methods. All participants will receive practical knowledge on introductory examples for all presented topics to start their own projects.
Each day of this workshop includes theoretical and practical parts. On the first day (9.4.2020) Bayesian optimization will be covered. The lecture will be followed by a practical session solving problems with a limited amount of data. The second day (16.4.2020) focuses on deep learning with basics to more advanced models. Here, too, a practical part is planned for solving a classification problem. On the last day (23.4.2020) of the workshop, hyperparameter optimization methods (AutoML) will be introduced on the one hand, and the implementation of an adaptive deep learning program using hyperparameter search on the other.
This workshop is suitable for programmers, engineers, researchers and data scientists with a good knowledge of Python.
The workshop will be held in English, questions can be asked in German and will be answered in German if necessary.

One challenge when using Artificial Intelligence methods, especially Neural Networks, is the search for optimal hyperparameters (e.g., number of filters, learning rate). The main goal of the workshop is to prepare participants to start their own deep learning projects and tune their models using one of the newest optimization methods. Thus, the participants will gain hands-on knowledge on introductory examples for all presented concepts enabling them to start their own projects.
Each day of this workshop includes theoretical and practical sessions. During the first day (9.4.2020), we cover Bayesian Optimization methods. The lecture follows with a practical session solving problems with a limited amount of data. The second day (16.4.2020) focus is on Deep Learning ranging from basics to more advanced models. We also provide a practical session to solve a classification problem. On the last day of the workshop (23.4.2020), after introducing hyperparameter optimization methods (AutoML), we teach how to write an adaptive Deep Learning program for hyperparameter search.
This workshop is suitable for programmers, engineers, researchers, and data
scientists with intermediate Python knowledge.
The workshop will be held in English, questions can be raised in German and answered in German if needed.
