ARIC Brown Bag Session: Bayes or Bot? AI rethought in diagnostics

The talk will highlight the difference between classical Bayesian networks – which have served as transparent, probabilistic tools in medical diagnostics for decades – and modern Large Language Models, which perform impressively thanks to huge amounts of data and pattern recognition, but are less explainable. Examples will be used to show where Bayesian networks still have their strengths, where LLMs open up new opportunities and how a combination of both approaches could shape the future of medical decision support.
