WoHa! | Women’s Hackathon 2026

On April 18, the third edition of our Hackathon for Women will take place. This format was developed by the EU project Connecting Women in Digital has been recognized as a best practice and brings together women interested in technology to grow together on four different challenges.
We look forward to spending a day solving problems together in a good mood. Beginners are just as welcome as more advanced AIers, because together we complement each other best.
We invite you to expand your knowledge and get a taste of new areas. Participation is free – but the feeling when your code finally works after a long puzzle is priceless.
We look forward to seeing you.
Please bring your own laptop, as we cannot provide computers.
Tracks
- Robotics: Develop a delivery robot – “Robot, bring me a coffee!”
Who hasn’t always wanted to say that to a robot while sitting at their desk? Today you can try to get a little closer to this goal. In this track, you teach a robot to deliver things to your desk. You’ll learn how to program a robot and how it uses sensors to find its way around the world.
- Internet of Things: Smart Minihome
Have you always wanted to know how to set up a smart home? In this track, you’ll bring a house to life with the help of sensors, lights and other gadgets – just like in a real smart home. Working in small teams, you will learn how to install, program and control various sensors.
By the end of the session, you will have developed a sensor-controlled smart mini-home and creatively learned and deepened your knowledge of basic aspects of electronics and programming. - LOL, LLM – Prompting for Punchlines (ARIC)
“Why did the language model cross the road? To optimize token distribution.” Do you think that’s funny? Nope? Neither do we. This is exactly where this session comes in.
We test how much humor there really is in LLMs and build a low-threshold AI agent for jokes. Using prompt engineering, our own data enrichment and API connection, we will learn step by step how we can use AI agents. In the end, our agent not only delivers jokes, but also the matching meme. Previous knowledge? None required.
Between punchlines, bias and bad (or dad) jokes, we explore why humor is a real challenge for AI and what this tells us about language, culture and AI. The workshop serves as inspiration to get started with AI agents – and to transfer the findings directly into your own use cases. - Coding Curiosity: We build a Perspective Shifter
We often develop solutions to problems and unconsciously overlook the needs of a part of society in the process. In this vibe coding session, we build the “Perspective Shifter” together. The idea is simple but powerful: you enter a project or an idea (e.g. “A new app for the neighborhood”), and the tool lets fictitious personas with different life realities have their say (e.g. a single mother, a senior citizen or a person with visual impairments). We look forward to seeing you!
Registration for the hackathon will open four weeks before the start of the event. If the hackathon is fully booked, there will be a small additional contingent for members of ARIC member companies.
If you have any questions about the hackathon, please contact: events@aric-hamburg.de
