New AI-Showroom makes Artificial Intelligence come alive

The ARIC Artificial Intelligence showroom is now officially open. On February 8th the partners from Hamburg and Estonia met up in Hamburg to open the showroom, underlining their close cooperation. Michael Westhagemann, Senator of Hamburg’s Ministry of Economics and Innovation, and Andres Sutt, Estonian Minister of Economics cut the ribbon together with the Vice President Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics of Lufthansa Industry Solutions, Dr. Susan Wegner.

Located at the headquarters of ARIC in the Docklands/Nordakademie the ARIC Showroom is a physical space designed to make Artificial Intelligence visible and tangible. It is inspired by the e-Government Showrooms of ARIC’s cooperation partner Estonia.

Andres Sutt: “I am pleased that with today’s opening we have taken another step forward in our German-Estonian cooperation. The showroom contains exhibits from Estonia and Hamburg and thus connects the two AI-ecosystems. It shows how international cooperation works.”

Michael Westhagemann: “With a key technology like AI you need strong partners and common ground to succeed. In places like the showroom, new ideas, projects and international exchanges are born. I am already looking forward to many joint initiatives.”

The AI showroom’s motto is Inspire, learn, collaborate and create. It serves two main purposes: The first of them is Showcasing AI, presenting understandable exhibits like an AI-based virtual doorman or a delivery robot. The second half is dedicated to Developing AI offering equipment supporting collaborative development of AI applications. The showcases can be exchanged depending on the occasion and the respective guest’s individual interests.

The Showroom is to be continuously expanded with new AI applications. It can be set up at other locations in the city of Hamburg with little effort, effectively forming a mobile home for innovation and collaboration available to the whole city.

Jörn Messner, CEO of Lufthansa Industry Solutions: “We are proud to be a founding partner and to have helped shaping the ARIC since the beginning. With this showroom we help to make AI technology vivid in operational applications, especially for aviation. It is important that AI technology becomes understandable and is used in a sustainable sense. This will be demonstrated in the showroom and we are happy to be part of the ARIC AI ecosystem.”

Please note: Due to the pandemic situation we are only offering scheduled visits for now. Registering through our Eventbrite page is necessary. Times and dates will be announced on our website.
